Can the magnetic force of a magnet be converted into suction?

Regarding whether the magnetic force of a magnet can be converted into attraction force, how much Gauss can absorb is a hot topic of magnets. At present, there is no formula that can be directly converted into suction force, but the main factors to be considered for the magnitude of the magnet suction force are as follows:

1. Surface Gauss value: how many magnetic force lines per square centimeter, the higher the value, the stronger the single point magnetic force. This value has a great relationship with the thickness of the magnet in the direction of magnetization, the thicker it is usually the higher, but it is not unlimited, the increase rate will be very small after the thickness is about 5~10mm, and it will be saturated after reaching a certain thickness.
2. Magnetic action area: For example, the area of the magnet is 10mm long x 10mm wide, while the area of the iron sheet is only 6mm long x 6mm wide, so the active area can only be calculated as 6mm long x 6mm wide.
3. Magnetic permeability of the adsorbed item: In the case of using the same magnet, the higher the magnetic permeability of the adsorbed item, the stronger the suction force will be. For example, the magnetic permeability of pure iron is higher than that of 400 series stainless steel, which means that the magnet's suction force when absorbing pure iron is better than that of 400 series stainless steel, while aluminum, wood and other materials have extremely low magnetic permeability (close to the magnetic permeability of vacuum and air). As a result, most of the magnetic force will pass through them, and the magnet will not be able to generate adsorption force.
4. Interval distance: For example, glass whiteboards are separated by about 5mm of glass, which will reduce the magnetic force to about 15~30%.
If you want to use a magnet to absorb weight, it is recommended to add an iron shell or U-shaped iron, because the magnetic effect increases the magnetic force, which can increase the gravity.
